Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, medical professionals have been putting themselves at risk in order to help the infected to try to curb the spread of the virus. However, as a result, thousands of medical professionals have contracted the virus, and hundreds have died. In times such as these, our medical professionals are our greatest defence and therefore need to be protected at all costs.
Although those working in medical fields are equipped with things such as face masks and gloves for protects, as a result of panic buying by the general public, the medical field is experiencing a shortage of these essentials for medical professionals. However, it is important to understand that as a member of the general public these products are not intended for you, they are intended for essential workers ranging from medical professionals to retail workers.
But along with the face mask, doctors and nurses need extra, sneeze and cough proof protection. It is for this reason that Powerhouse has introduced surgical visors as part of their offerings. This visor is placed on the forehead around to the back of the wearer’s head. A protective plastic visor is then suspended from the headband covering essential parts of the face, the eyes, nose and mouth. These visors are specifically for medical use and are not advised for members of the public.
These protective visors can be used in the operating theatre, casualty areas, wards and for emergency services. The extra protection creates a shield between the medical professional and patient, especially in the event of the patient coughing or sneezing as respiratory droplets cannot penetrate the screen.

While businesses such as ours will be impacted by the pandemic, it is important to put the needs of our country first and remember that in these circumstances, we are stronger apart.
To support our country in the fight against the virus, we have a very small skeleton staff operating our machines in isolation in shifts in our print factory, to help produce face visors as an essential service. We have secured a large amount of 0,5mm PET Lumex sheeting to assist in cutting these visors with our moulding partners.
